    The solid soft lead bullet is undoubtably the best and most satisfactory expanding bullet that has ever been designed. It invariably mushrooms perfectly, and never breaks up. With the metal base that is essential for velocities of 2000 f.s. and upwards to protect the naked base, these metal-based soft lead bullets are splendid.

    been reading some interesting stuff and his name is mentioned more than once
    seems he was hooked up with Lewis and Clark and even before their epic journey his name being mentioned

    He went to the coast with Lewis and Clark, and they granted him release when they were headed back to St. Louis at the mouth of the Yellowstone, where he joined two trappers headed back upriver.

    I believe he got capture by the Blackfeet or some similar and escaped but without any weapons' or clothes

    Yes, that was at the Three Forks of the Missouri. Some friends own a ranch he pretty much had to have crossed. He hid in a brush pile in the river to get away from them.
