Garand loads

I don't know if this is the right place to ask this, so if it isn't feel free to move it. I am looking for a load that duplicates the old M-2 load. I will be happy with some J-Word loads although I want to work into cast Boolit loads later. Thanks for any info you can give me.

The light M2 loads (loaded to stay within range fans stateside at 2550 fps) can be duplicated with 147-150 gr FMJs over 24.5 - 25.5 gr 4895. For actual M2 spec of 2800 fps try 47.5 or 48 gr of 4895.

You are not going to duplicate M2 specs (bullet weight and velocity) with cast bullets and any hope of accuracy in your M1 Garand. However, very decent cast bullet loads can be made using 311299 or 314299 (whichever fits best) over 28-32 gr of 4895 with a dacron filler. Velocity for best accuracy will be 1800-1950 fps and it should reliably function the action (if the rifle is in good shape).
