    My Springfield with a 1-12 twist gets 1.75" with 10 rounds at a 100 yds. using 40gr. surplus 4895, at 2050 fps.

Very few of post here are dead. Lead shooting ideas and load data from the very beginning can help both novice and seasoned shooter.

the ironic part of this is that I wound up shooting a deer at 12 yds away with this load.

The bugger ran 100 yds and piled up, NOT a lot of extra shot up meat.

I am about to have a 308 rebored to 358. Is there a good alternative to the 358009 everyone is so fond of?

The Saeco mold is the one I use the most. I have it, a 200gr. RCBS mold and an original 358009 Lyman mold. They all shoot equally well in three 35 caliber rifles I have. If i had to pick one of the three for everything, though, it would be the Saeco. I think mine casts at about 245 grains out of my alloy.
