Sitka Blacktail down in SE Alaska

Great Day!!!

Killed a real nice Blacktail on Prince of Wales island in SE Alaska... cast 120g boolit straight through the neck at 40 yards ish... Really big chunk of a deer stepped out as i was quietly creeping up this old road up to my deer stand... I always make it a point to hunt in and hunt out, and this time a dandy came right to me...

i had been looking for this deer for several weeks sense he showed up on my trail cam in the grainy misty black night here in the rainforest. a HUGE blessing... Praise God.. only wish my dear friend charlie (boaz) could have seen a pic of this deer in the Barn.. hope he sees it now!

i used my 308 with a m1 carbine boolit.. about 120 gr. the deer are usually kinda smallish, but the flatnosed boolit wacked him good, and we was DRT!!! he would not turn and kept comming straight at me.. the dog was getting nervious too... i could here her in dog language saying "shoot it dad!!! Its food!"

That's a dandy buck congratulations. Seeing how the 120 grain performed, I may be using too much alloy at 190 something grains.

Hmmm... too big for me to get hung up by myself.. me and my son hoisted it while a friend tied it off... around 165-175 dressed

he was pre rut... he came out ready to fight, but was not persue'n does yet... best I can tell...
