    WTS: Stevens 44 single shot 25RF project

    For sale: Stevens Model 44 single shot rifle in 25RF. I'm calling this a project due to the listed issues, but overall it's a solid rifle that should be pretty simple to get up and running. The action is tight and in great shape mechanically. I stripped and cleaned it and everything internally looks good. Barrel locks up tight to receiver with takedown screw. Major issues include missing/broken mainspring (I have a small piece of it to match the correct style; Jack First and others list a replacement spring for about $30), missing rear sight, incorrect lower tang screw and severely cracked/poorly repaired buttstock (see photos; should be usable with a little TLC). Bore is good with strong rifling and some light pitting in one spot just ahead of the chamber. Looks very usable as-is, but could also be a candidate for re-lining. Asking $300 as-is shipped from my C&R to 01/03FFL.
