Will solder, Babbitt or Linotype work? They are all rich in tin.
You guys would know better than me, I'm a beginner. I'm just told I need some tin to put tin in my lead to make it flow better.

The best way to soften up lead is with softer lead, and it is 10 times cheaper than using tin. Tin is usually added to make the bullet fill-out the mould better/easier. I'm betting whoever told you that is not a long time caster or he wouldn't give you terrible advice like that. Stick around this site to find real, practical answers.
Head on over to goodwill and find some pewter. Mix that in and you're good to go.

Pewter works well, I add some once in a while if I have a difficult mould. Doesn't usually take much, though. Even sell some sometimes when I get more than I need. Found a couple of pieces today in fact, at Goodwill.
I’ve looked a dozen times at local thrift shops and never found any. I have got some from this site. Good luck. I’m sure someone will have some extra eventually
I have some wiping solder and some 50/50. I also have some pewter that I melted down years ago. Let me know if you are interested, I'll get a weight on what I have

tin does not make bullet lead SOFTER !!!!!!!!!! it makes it harder.....................adding pure lead makes for a softer bullet lead why do you think 20-1 is harder then 40 to one !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! somebody needs to do there homework here as adding tin to soften is totally backwards..............
People need to read the post. He is not trying to make the lead softer, he is wanting it to flow or fill out better. If you can scrounge a few old WWs it has tin and alimony in it.
Aim small, miss small!
I thought exactly the same, "why are folks all over the hardness thing when the OP wanted fill-out?" Then I realized the OP had edited his 4:19 post a couple minutes after Springfield's 4:36 post. Not a malicious edit, but just a casting newbie trying to better articulate his intent.

more heat also makes molds fill out better !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
