    'Ol timer with Star sizer

I bought my sizer from the guy in San Diego sizer, dies and top punches all at the same time. The punches were made to size the bollet from the bottom to the top. Now it seems that everybody is turning them upside down. What are the advantages of doing it this way? Am I going to have to get new top punches to get in the swing of things?

Nose first sizing eliminates the need for top punches that are formed to the nose of the boolit.
I have used a 30 cal formed top punch on the base with no adverse affects.

But sizing nose first can leave tails on the base - so I still size base-first, even though it means using a different nose punch. I think the nose-first method is simply a simpler (cheaper?) way of doing things.

One of the most endearing sights in the world is the vision of a naked good-looking woman leaving the bedroom to make breakfast. Bolivar Shagnasty (I believe that Lazarus Long also said it, but I can't find any record of it.)

soem bullets will self center pretty well when droped in nose down. Makes things go fast plus you get a good alignment of bullet axis to die.
I don't get fins on te base until I start sizing about .003" down. Still not to bad.
If you've a top punch for a bullet and that's working well it aint broke.
