    Hunting RB Alloy Mix?

Forgive me if this has been beat to death, but just getting into casting, though I watched some of my Dad's friends as a kid to understand the basics. What alloy would you use for a .54 RB that will be primarily used for hunting deer and hawgs? I'm not messing with WW, just buying Lyman #2 or 40-1/30-1/25-1 etc etc. Having found the supply of Hornady swaged .530's rather spotty, I thought about this angle......

Round Balls tend to be pure lead or close to pure lead. Some have had success with a little harder but if to hard the ball won't grip the patch and accuracy suffers

I have used 54 balls cast from stick on wheel weights as well as pure. Both killed deer.
When you care enough to send the very best, send an ounce of lead.

Pure lead is the best way to go, but an alloy can work too. You’ll just have less expansion, but most round balls are already big enough.
