What's up with .257 J Words Being Popular

I bought a .250 savage 10 yrs ago and feed it ~85-90gr red pills I get at gun shops and gun shows for $5/60ct box kinda deal. The quarter bore was always super underrepresented in rifle sales but components were everywhere so I shot cheap. Now it seems that the 25 cal j words are selling for a premium, 75gr pills seem to bring in the most; they're selling for more than my .348 j words sometimes!!! Anybody know why? Bought a 25-36 and 25-35 factory ammo goes for ~$2/rd where my .250 savage only brings in ~$0.75/rd! Almost like NPR blessed the .257 bob and now everyone has to have one.

Go online to buy directly from Sierra- they are selling off the excellent 75 gr .257 bullets that are discontinued. About $20/100 and free shipping. My wife and I both are quarterbore fans. .250 Sav. and 25-06.

Could be that the quarterbore didn't sell, compared to other calibers, but now that the other stuff isn't available, people are going to the quarterbore since things are (were?)available

My 250AI likes the 100gn cast boolit, shoots as well as the "J" type!

That's what I was thinking but there's only a handful of cartridges in 25. Most haven't seen any production since the 90's. And the 75gr j word is popular. Maybe because it was discontinued.

Sierra is all sold out on their website (I prob have a good decade of red pills as I don't shoot the 250 much) and I noticed that they don't make any .348's anymore. Too bad, getting hard to find those 34 red pills too.

I found that the Speer tnt 87 gr .257 is great in the 250, a sporterized, rebarred chilean mauser open sights.

Right now everything gun related is popular. I don't care how weird it is, if it makes it to a retail store shelf, it won't last long .

Maybe you could ask your Dr. if he/she could prescribe an alternate "pill" that would work for you.

Check out Noe moulds. I have a Remington 700 25-06 with a Hart 26" barrel and it shot a 10 shot one inch group at 80yrds with the Noe 258-120-FN over 15gr IMR 4227. Gp

Why would one even bother with jacketed for a 25/20? Neither of mine has seen a jacketed bullet since I got them.

It's easier in the 250 to just use j words, mainly use it when walking to "blow stuff up". The TNT j word does well and all were super cheap until recently. The 25-35 isn't going fast enough to be blowing stuff up, so maybe but I hate to go through all the hassle of setting up for another caliber as I already cast for 45 and maybe 40 & 38.

If I had a 25-20 I'd prob look at cast as that's like the 32-20, shoot all the time. A super expanding red pill would be fun though...

I bought my first .40S&W pistol back when 40cal was the only ammo on the shelf. Cheap too. That was the first obama shortage. By the time of the second shortage all the shelves were empty.

This time around it's improvise, adapt and overcome, or kick back and wait it out.
