    Pot woes

So I have a Lyman Mag 20 pot, I plugged it in last night and it only gets warm, barely. checked my outlet and thats ok, but I did plug it into another outlet and the radio started buzzing, any ideas??? I'm heading back to the garage shortly to investigate more. I hope I don't need a new pot, especially in these times when people are jacking the prices to the moon!! I do have an electrician buddy coming over at some point that I reached out to.

I'm guessing but I would check the connections inside the pot for tightness, corrosion, or heat damage.

just a thought- I use the top of an old electric oven-4 burners. I striped it off the oven.

this works well for ladle casting from a pot

IF you can troubleshoot the problem you might be able to get replacement parts from Lyman.

Do you have an Ohmmeter? They help with a lot of problems in automotive, house and shop.

Problem found. One wire was bent to sharp and rubbing the housing and one of the plugs was all burnt from a bad connection. Had it up and running yesterday and cast my first bullets! the usual newbie stuff, mold slow to heat up, had to fight a dripping spout, got some frosty ones, and had a problem with the grooves filling out properly (750 temp) according to the new lyman thermometer I just bought. I wasn't expecting to make bullets for shooting right of the bat, more so just working on some techniques and figuring out what was going to work for me as far as set up

The wires and terminals on the Lyman are a constant problem with heat and corrosion. Do yourself a favor and aim on getting a PID and a hot plate to preheat your molds. Both make a big difference in cast quality.
