Has anyone cast with RMR lead without adding anything else? They claim 12BHN, no tin. I'm looking to make 9mm 147gr and 300Blk 225gr both very light subsonic rounds.

I bought some, but I havent had the chance to cast with it yet. It is nice lead. It's all in short strands or stubby bullet cores. It will be really nice to measure out for the melter pot. The alloy should be good for any sane loadings, rifle or pistol, without enriching it. It's of a very reasonable price. A lot cheaper than the competitors. Free shipping also. I met the female mail carrier in the driveway, and unloaded the two 64 lb boxes for her. She appreciated that.
I see no reason not to believe their bhn claim, they buy it from a foundry.
So, Sb content similar to COWW, but without the bit of tin that might help fill out, or the arsenic for additional hardening.
Many applications don't need more hardness than what air cooled COWW provides, and I've read more than a few posts here stating that more heat instead of added tin manages fill out just fine.
I can't speak for their cores but I have done a lot of business with them and find them to very good to work with. Their packing crew knows how to ship bullets!

My lead from RMR was packed well. Double boxed, and taped up well.
Well I'm glad I ordered. Looks like they downgraded their weight for the same price.
Just joined RMR because of this thread. Ordered 20 lbs of core material. Sounds like it will add to my COWW stash.

Someone clue me in on the secret handshake..rmr??

They have lead. They have a sale on.
I've bought a lot of lead from RMR. Good packaging and even decent ship times for covid times. It's pretty clean, just some light oil. I haven't tried casting it straight, always add tin about 4%. While the 1.54/lb is a decent price, after buying tin my ingot price is about 2.25. Might as well just buy casting alloy from roto at that point. Now, if you already had tin or pewter in hand, that's seems like a good price for clean lead of a known alloy.
I have plenty of tin on hand.
Those are mighty fine, rockrat!
I like mine looking like yours: just a little bit of even, matte frosting. My molds cast best that way (though my alloy has 1-2% tin).
The alloy as is, is plenty hard enough for non magnum pistol ammo. A little tin never hurts though. It just depends on what application you are using the alloy for, on whether it needs a little help in the hardness department.
I picked a couple boxes of RMR lead. I've been getting 8 BHN on the lead that I got. Ran it on the XFR today and got 98.13% lead and 1.65% antimony. So a little short of the 3% it is claimed to be, but it is good clean lead and I plan on adding a little something to it to get it where it needs to be. All around I would buy more down the rode.

I wonder if that is why they are seconds?
