    Win.m70 7mm 08 to 338 federal

Found a used m70 featherweight delux I. 7mm 08. Going to send it off to JES to take it out to 338 federal. Will rebed the action,, float the barrel. Thinking fixed 6x power. Take trigger down to 2.5lbs..Then on to some load development .

That sounds like a good plan. It's going to be even more featherweight and probably just as accurate. The .358 Winchester would be the easy button for cast bullets, though. But I can see the appeal of the .338.

    Either that or .358.

But for me a 2.5 lb trigger is too light for a hunting rifle.

The 358 wouldn't leave me enough barrel left. I already have a 338 fed so I don't have to go looking for new molds or jwords. As much as I would like the 358 with times like these the last thing I want is the struggle for new components and unnecessary burn of supplies.

I am a big believer in having redundant caliber guns, so staying with the .338 makes sense in your situation.

Might want to install a muzzle brake.
