    Hunting Speed Loader

Some scrap pine, a 7/16" bit for the powder charge holes, 1/2" bit for the patched .490" ball holes, some stain, a few slaps of wipe-on polyU, 3 cork stoppers, 2 twisted nails, a length of leather shoelace, and some time on the bandsaw and sanding station. Powder charge holes drilled 2-1/2" deep and will hold 80 grains (volume) of black powder, can be drilled deeper for heftier charges.

It looks like it would be kind of tough to dump the powder without spilling. Overall it appears quite large for only 3 shots to be honest. Good craftsmanship though, and the principle is sound.

Y'all need to learn about these before nay saying. I've been making and using these speed loaders for decades. They load easy with .50 and up, but I might use a small copper or brass funnel, that's always attached to my shooting bag strap, for smaller calibers. Not at all large or bulky - 3/4" thick at the powder side and 1/2" thick at the ball end, 3" wide and 4-1/4" long.

You could also make up a real slim 2 holer.

    Top shelf!

I've made 2 to 4 balls in the loader, along with 1 in the gun. It's all good, whatever works well is best.

You have TOO Much Free Time! LOL. Actually, I have several caliber specific loading blocks akin to historic blocks. I never needed a quick reload with Ball in .50 or .54. but did with the .45. I used the blocks and had the powder in nickel wrappers gotten free from my bank.

You are a master craftsman and I liked your posted pictures.

Beautiful job, I will be copying it for my guns when it warms up, if you don't mind.

Now that is a cool idea ! A lot better than those plastic things I carried this year was a pain trying to get that lubed patch out of it . Gonna look around at work on Monday for some nice figured wood that we always get from the lumber yard as pallet material .
    Thanks for the idea .

Very good idea, I like the thought of keeping it all together like that, less time digging in the shooting bag for components
