I realise prices are going up but $241 for a double cavity Lyman 311284 is piracy!

that's absurd. might be time to liquidate the old Lyman molds I don't use often.
what those people that spend the big bucks on eBay don't realize there are probably at least a half dozen custom mold makers that will produce pretty much just about whatever you want for the same price they were charging 6-10 months ago.
I'm seeing Lee die sets go for upwards of 100 dollars. It's ridiculous to me that they're selling at those prices.
What really made me laugh recently was that every blackpowder firearm on one website I checked was sold out... People are out there so desperate to be armed they've strapped up with ye olde musketoons and pepperboxes.

My dad’s Greater Fool theory, the greater fool pays more for something. On eBay it’s really easy to see this principal at work I’m not usually a great enough fool to bid higher than others for something cause I know what something is worth to me before I start bidding and don’t exceed that. To others the $40 I paid for a Lyman SC 311412 seemed high then (5 years ago) but it was worth it to me to re-collect the one mold missing to my grandfathers set. Sentimentality made me the greater fool then.
Panic buying is creating a lot of fools nowadays. Hold tight and you will likely benefit in the long run. If you have stuff to offload, please be fair to your fellow casters on here first but if that doesn’t work, eBay is truly the great equalizer because it simply is who’s willing to pay more for something.
I have been meaning to organize my molds. Now I need to organize them and figure out which ones I don't use.

OK People. Enough of this idle chit-chat.

Guilty ... I had to ramp up to load for a new 44mag Henry I bought. Most all components I got at a decent price except for dies. 4 piece carbide die was 85 bucks ... yup I paid it. Brass, and a 200gr mold were priced right. Primers and powder I’m set for a few years. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.
A fool and his money are easily parted - and I used that phrase loosely as those that KNOW true value are at times compromised by supply and demand.
In theory, if all of the world's capital was evenly distributed to every person, all at once in a free market, within months that capital would redistribute and concentrate back into the hands of those who had amassed it before.
As Supplies decrease, and Demands increase, so too does Cost increase to those who seek. Make hay while the sun shines. Guns and Ammo are Big Business these days.
If it was easy, anybody could do it.
I think maybe some want guy socialism where the goverment hands out an equal amount to everyone for free and they pay for it with our tax money. Like landowner said its supply and demand. Crying about prices doesnt help. If you want it its you that has to decide if 200 dollars for a brick of primers is worth it or not. I dont need them (at least for years) so it doesnt consern me but if i needed some 9mm to defend my family and didnt have them id pay what it takes. What choice is there. Around here anyway you sure arent buying factory stuff at ANY price. Think of it like this. If tommarow the goverment banned gas cars and said they only way you can drive to work is with an electric one. What do you think would happen to the price of those few electric cars on the lots. What if they banned natural gas and propane for home heating. what would happen to the price of solar or wood? Its just part of free enterprise and anything else is socialism. Well i guess in a way just banning those things is socialism too. So instead of calling it names lets just say its the way things work. If all a guy needs is primers paying 200 bucks for a brick of a 1000 gets you 20 boxes of 9mm. So your talking 10 bucks a box not factoring in what you already have like powder. Most of us have brass and have lead. Now show me where 9mm is even 15 bucks a box of 50 if you need powder too. You wouldnt even have to show me because there would be a block long line up in front of the gun shop to buy it. Me? ill ride it out. Ive got plenty and when OR IF things go back to normal ill buy even more. Until then i just cut my shooting back from 3 times a week to once a week. I have enough to shoot the rest of my life at that rate sitting in the shop.
Saw the prices for single cavity mold and laughed. As was stated, you can get a very nice mould from the various makers. I am trying out Accurate for the first time. I did want a pistol that I finally found and did pay a hundred or so more for it but, oh well, they said it was in stock so we will see.
I have a policy of dropping out of bidding when a used mold approaches to within 20% of what I can order the same number of cavities in the same mold material from a reputable custom mold maker for. Watched a Lyman 311008 go for more than I could have ordered a better design with the same number of cavities in iron from Accurate for. Of course, Accurate is now six weeks out (last I looked) on their molds so that factors in as well.
Prices on everything are crazy right now. Some of the starting prices on Lee molds are laugh out loud.
Chance favors the prepared mind.
That’s AU dollars. US is $186, still high

It's a Seller's Market boys! For those with large inventory from previous hording, and maybe advancing in age to a point where the Safe Queens deserve better, it suggests the time is ripe for some retirement profit taking.

I just ordered a mold from NOE, same price as it was last year. 4 cav. brass for $116.00. Why would anyone pay that kind of money for a Lyman?
Yep, totally panic, crazy. I was surfing the other day and found a site that had reloading manuals (don't remember the name because as soon as I saw some prices, I was outta there!). "One Caliber" pamphlets about $25, and regular reloading manuals up to $140. Possible being of Texan/Okie heritage and stubbornness I absolutely would go without before I paid that much! (well, maybe if my wife was on her deathbed and the only thing that would save her is purchasing from these thieves, maybe)...
