    .31 Uberti Model 1849

    .

These two revolvers came up for sale elsewhere this afternoon, and I was fortunate enough to see the ad about 5mins after it was posted - so I bought the .31 Uberti M-1849.

The seller later told me that I grabbed it just in time, as somebody else wanted to buy both revolvers about 15min after I committed to the unfired M-1849 !

( the later buyer took the EMF .44, anyway )

Mine is the lower/smaller revolver below

Your going to really like it. I've shot mine a ton. The ball has no penetration to speak of so rebounds are a common occurrence if your backstop is made of something tough. My pistol backstop is made of railroad ties and I caught a bouncer in the leg a couple years ago. No harm done but it sure raised my situational awareness.

No worries, here - the backstops @ my funclub are 20' tall dirt berms with solid woods behind (my GC owns over 100 acres, of which the ranges are maybe 7 acres.

You were at least smart enough to get one with a loading lever, mine is the Wells Fargo version without which makes it a PITA to load. still fun to shoot though.

My brother in law and I tried to shoot an old rusty barbed wire fence in two with my first 51 navy, standing beside my 1968 Galaxy when he shot and we heard a thud on the car door between us. He had hit the barbed wire and instead of breaking the strands ... it sling shotted that lil ball back to us and put a small little 36 cal ding in the door between us.

I caught one in the belly and had a bruise. and another time I got hit in the side of my head, standing side ways, and it again bounced off with no damage. so the rule is to be very careful as said what the back stop is made of. I now use a piece of cardboard to staple my target onto.

    .

I received the Uberti this morning, and it's as advertised - new/un-fired - with IMO spectacular grips.

I'm gonna have to make a presentation case for it pretty soon.
