    Dillon SDB .32 S&W Long Dies------ .32ACP??????

    Hello,

Anyone know if .32 ACP rounds can be loaded with a .32 S&W Long SDB die set??

I have posted the question to Dillon without a response so far.

    Thanks in advance

Looking at the specs for each case I don't think it's going to work.

Probably need a new shell plate, but the dies should work; as long as you can adjust the crimp down far enough.

I know, roll vs. taper crimp, but if you don't crimp heavy, I think it will work. My Lyman die set is marked for the .32 ACP, .32 S&W, .32 S&W Long, and .32 H&R Magnum. If it were newer, it would probably be marked for the .327 also.

Sorry thinking 550B. I think the .32 ACP head spaces off the rim not case mouth. I used the .32 H&R to load ACP till I got ACP dies. The set I had had to be ground down to fit though, don't know about the new sets.

SDB I don't think you can adjust enough. I couldn't with mine. Best of luck.

I saw that Lyman set at the LGS. Is there anything extra in it that applies to only 32acp, that you can tell? I can only think, maybe, bullet seating could be a question with a die that doesn't adjust down far enough? It wouldn't be an issue, I suppose, with a set that also handles the .32 S&W, but a H&R or .327 (only) die set might not work?

I dug my die set out to look, I haven't used it for a couple of years. No guarantee everything is original, I bought it used at an auction and the label has since fallen off.

Mine has four dies--1. Lyman 32S&W / ACP TC size 2. Lyman 32 S&W Long / ACP seat (with two stems, #445 and 226 for SWC and RN respectively) that also roll crimps 3. Lyman neck expand M-1 with two expander stems and plugs. 4. And finally a Lymans 32S&W / ACP taper crimp die.

I think I could also load the 7.65 French Long with this set also.

I do use the M-die from this set to expand my .30 cal rifle brass too.
