    308 win and 2015br

Went to the range today to see what might happen when I upper the powder charge a bit. Tried 5 different boolits. A HM2 160gr thats a lot like the Harris design, a 311041, Saeco 315 copy, a 210gr boolit that I will have to see which design as its like a 311299 but more spitzer like, and a Lee group buy 190 gr. with 3 crimp grooves. Velocity probably close to 2000fps. Water cooled wheelweights + .08% copper. sized .311" with carnuba blue

Nothing to write about till I got to the Saeco. Top right group, 3 shots. Not too shabby

Lastly, the center group with the 190gr 3 crimp boolits. It has shot well in my 30-30, so had high hopes for the 308. First shot was high (seems like when you change boolits, the first shot can be out of the group from the following shots), the last 5 shots made a nice group.

Shooting was at 50 yards as the wind was about 20-25 mph @ 8 o'clock. Figured it would play havoc @100 yds. Didn't get out the chrony as figured the wind would blow it over.

    Nice !
Your search is paying off. Neat to see the results of the different loads.

I bought some 2015 when the powder was tight and never used it. Been wanting to try it in my .308 and .223. I can't find much data for it or RL10x with cast boolets. Looks like it is a couple of grains slower that 4198. Where did you get your data?

Lyman cast boolit book. Most recent one I believe.

Went out today and went up in charge. Amazing the difference a grain makes. Groups opening up all around. Dropped back a half a grain and only one boolit still grouped well. NOE's TL310-178RF put 4 that you could cover with a dime and the last shot opened it up another 1/2". Looks like I hit the RPM threshhold for my alloy at 2000fps or just above. Just the difference in the extra half grain of powder, on most bullets , doubled the group size and on a few, more like a shotgun pattern.

That's how it happens for me as well. Mine likes the vel around 1800fps for best accuracy (1:10 twist).

I haven't found any data for 2015 with cast boolets. I did find some data in the Lee #2, but only for jacketed.

I was thinking that loads about 25-30 grains would work in .308 with 155-200 gr boolets?

Ya think that would be a good range to try and not have problems?

Look in the Lyman cast bullet manual, 4th edition. It will show data for 2015 br. A 180gr boolit showed a max load at 2324 fps IIRC, which I think exceeds the rpm limit for the WCWW's I was using as accuracy went south around 2100fpsp

Last trip to the range for this powder. Only tried the NOE's 188gr "Hunter" boolit, the Saeco 315 copy, and a 190gr group buy boolit with 3 crimp grooves. Top left on both targets is the Saeco 315 copy, bottom left is the 3 crimp groove boolit and top right is the NOE "Hunter" design. First target is 35gr. of 4895 and second target was 31.5gr of AA2015. Think I will stick with the Hunter boolit and the 2015br. Three shot group is right at 1/2" center to center. All groups were shot @100yds. Estimated muzzle velocity is 2000 fps.
