Show me 45 cal 230 gr RNFP and SWC options .

What I have is a 45 ACP revolver and a sister of near identical parts in 45 Schofield . Both are 4-5" at 25 yd SA Weaverish , off one knee , or shoulder lean with 452-200 RNFP , H&G #130 , and 45-200 SWC . That goes out the window with 250-265s and opens to 8-12" . 454424 NOE version , 452-255 & 252 .
    Being designed around a 230 that's probably where I should go .
In a perfect world I'd take 20 gr off a 429421 moved out to .453 or just take a 358-158 Lee RNFP scaler up to .453 . But it's not , I could order that but I'd rather find an existing mould .
I remember the 45-230 being a more ogival SWC .......

So show me choices in .300+ meplat RNFPs and 230 SWC .

    Here's what I have

On the left is the Lee 230TC (slightly over .300)
In center is the Arsenal 230 WFN (.295)
On the right is the Accurate #45-200E (.295)

All three are accurate in my 25-2 (they shoot better than I do).

I find myself shooting the Accurate #45-200E more than the other two lately.

    I hope this helps.

The 45 ACP originally came with a 200 gr bullet.

The Army wanted 230 and that because the "new" standard.

These 2 old girls are a little bit shallow in the grooves but otherwise perfect dimensions . The 5.5" as factory shoots a figure 8 for point of aim with the assorted 200s vs GI ball 230 .....I just can't remember which one is on top . Basically one IS the pumpkin on a post and the other is half covered by the barrel .

The Schofield reamed 3.5" shoots about 3' high at 25 but is pretty close at 100 , a real ladies gun in a manner of speaking . Seems like a hot Schofield load wants to shoot but the 250-265s are just to wild . The 265 gr 452-255 RF is the best but it's still 6" .

By hot I mean about 18kpsi loads in a 14 kpsi cartridge the 45 ACP chassis should handle it well enough . I suspect this will be a tag along field gun suitable for whatever comes along in western Arkansas . The snubby proportion will certainly carry better that a 7.5" BlackHawk .

In theory, the 230's should impact higher than the 200's, in theory. In reality, who knows.

MP 453-490. Drops 230gr solid, 217gr with the big HP out of my range scrap.
    Top row L to R: MP 452-200, MP 453-490, NOE H&G#68 clone (~210gr w/ range scrap).

I don't know when the original run of this mold occurred and haven't been able to find much info. It appears to be a very loose interpretation of the Lyman 452-490 (255gr GC), with the GC shank completely omittted.

I bought one on a hunch it would run in .45 ACP...
and I just wanted something different. It is now one of my favorites in that application. I think there may be a few 4 cav still in stock as of this writing, but 4 cav HP mold price may be more than you are wanting to spend.
