    Let's Date Another Savage 99

I have a savage 99 in 30-30. Serial number 304818, and the lever boss has an M stamped on it. It has the rotary magazine and a carbine buttplate.

When I go to the savage dating site, the serial shows 1927, but the M on the lever boss has me wondering.

    Thoughts?

As far as I can tell it was born in 1927. Heres a useful link.

Of course the M on the Lever Boss would indicate 1961.

If it has a Utica, NY address it definitely is not 1961.

1927, the M is an inspector stamp, the lever boss code/year-date stamp started in 1949 with "A".

Any time I "date" my M99 in 300 Savage there is venison on the table.
Sorry, I could not stop myself
