    Source for bullet-core lead

I'm not affiliated with this manufacturer in any way, I just stumbled across this a few hours ago. With free shipping, it seems like a good deal (I missed the golden-age of wheel-weights).

Wow. Up to 3 months before being shipped though like you stated may be a decent deal for some. Good luck

Comes out to about .64 a pound. One of the better deals I have seen.

I just got some of that lead from rmr. I think it was 2 weeks to ship. They are very busy there. I will definitely buy more. If you're on MeWe they have a page there.

More like twice that when you buy 1920lbs.

    Hi,
I think you got the math wrong. It's $1.56/lb ($100.00/64#). It's still not a bad price and I have bought their lead before. I asked them about the composition, and they said it's supposed to be 2% Sb, which is pretty good.

Would it be fair to assume that lead intended for bullet-cores would be cleaner than ballast-weight? One thing I really don't have a massive stockpile of (between 100 and 200 pounds), is lead. At 230 grains per shot, (most of my casting is for my 1911), and a hundred + rounds per range session, I could stretch my current supply for perhaps two years. I'm looking to change that in a month or so. The back-log only applies to out-of-stock items, as I understand it.

From Rotometals' description I'd guess the ballast lead is reclaimed shot. What with dirt, oxidation and residual coatings, processing that into usable lead ingots might take more time, propane and physical effort than expected.

Other than the swaging lube still on the metal, RMR's stuff sounds very clean.

I think I'll pick some of this RMR stuff up then; one less thing to worry about. Thanks for all the input.

Make sure and watch gun website classifieds. Here the game is too hot to catch lead for most but I just got 50 pounds for $52 shipped from another site which isn't great but not the worst.

reclaimed lead shot melts strange. I cant explain it, drips of the hot lead sorta turns into round bb's. I'm not sure why. It's not soft but not super hard either. I've cast bullets with it.

Shot has a high antimony and arsenic content. Makes it want to he round.
