I might add here, several years ago a bunch of us on another site hit up ruger with an email campaign to bring back the 96. didn't do a thing, they still are no longer making the 96.
Don't despair. Look how long it took for the marketing geniuses at Colt to bring back the Python and how many of us had always figured that would have been a no brainer for a company that needed a new flagship gun to replace the AR. They still can't meet demand on those Pythons and it has been out for maybe two years?

Good smooth steel and Walnut lever actions. I'll be glad to see any and all. When the volume gets up the selection will follow.........

    You won't ever see an 1895 in .500 S&W.

First of all the 336 receiver that the modern version of the 1895 is based upon is just barely able to accommodate the .45-70. Not surprising when you consider that it is the modernized version of the 1893 receiver designed around the much smaller .38-55 cartridge. There is no way that the .500 S&W cartridge can be made to fit.

Secondly, the .500 S&W cartridge has a chamber pressure of 60,000 PSI, which is well beyond what the 336 action is capable of withstanding.

Perhaps a modern steel version of the original larger 1895 Marlin action might be made to work. Then again, maybe not.

    If we're just wishing...

    1892 but in .32 S&W or S&W Long,
1893 take-down .38-55 or just about any caliber,
    1894 Musket in .44 WCF
1894 light-weight carbine with optional button magazine.
    1894 take-down

I wish that Marlin would remake this 22" barrel original 1895 saddle ring carbine in .45-70:

the Henry bbs 41 mag is a fine gun, but I guess from what I understand there was little demand for it and has been dropped from catalog --
A well-stocked LGS in my area has a few Henry Big Boy Steel rifles in .327 Federal Magnum and .41 Magnum. Only a single .41 Magnum has sold in over a year that I have been monitoring them on-line and none of the .327 Magnums.

I think Henry needs to cave in to the idea of having side loading gates on ALL of their tube fed centerfire rifles. This was always a deal breaker for my brother, who collects lever action rifles and I believe he is far from alone on this opinion.

I'm pretty sure that they know this. It has been costing them sales for years. When they actually did admit this and introduced their first loading gate model though, it was as shocking as if John Wayne had announced that he had taken up ballet and had become anti-gun.

But, in the current slowed-down Covid production situation, and lack of Marlin supply, I don't think that they are in any hurry.

1894 in 327 Federal Mag. 22" long 1/2 octagon barrel with a 2/3 magazine tube, pistol grip.
No checkering so I don't feel bad about trimming the stock and forend down.

I would love to see Ruger bring back the Marlin Ballard target rifles. A 22 reduced in size for grins and giggles. Then a model in the bigger calibers. Double set triggers, tang ladder straight and front aperture. decent wood.

I think you will see the first Marlins come off as 1894's and hopefully 1894 CB's with 1:20 twist and hopefully some of the simple mods like the chamfer on the chamber and deburring points I have given them.

All of the oddball requests in this thread could be done if they got the "Custom Shop" in the deal or were willing to set up a Ruger Custom Shop up to deal with special requests that you will pay thru the nose for! Marlin Custom Shop Guns "Started" at $3500! and went strait up from there. As long as you are willing to pay the price, and apparently many were willing, you can get anything you want.

I know this from talking to my guy there,,, they have every intention of making the best Marlin Rifles ever made, and they have the skills to do it.

Lets hope everyone gets everything they want.

    Randy

I've long said that 99.99% of the people driving SUV's would be better of with a plain old station wagon. The mini van killed of the station wagon, the SUV is killing off the minivan.

In addition to my previous wish, I would also like to see an 1892 in .32 S&W Long, or readily available quantities of .32 Long Colt brass and ammo.

    Robert
