    I had a 98 in .308 that looked very much like this rifle, straight bolt handle with peep . You have a fine looking rifle, congrats .

    Here's one that has a little character. Flash wiped out the maple diamond covering the original hole for the recoil lug. I've tried reshaping a couple of beater Mauser stocks to look similar to this but haven't had any real success. If the OP's stock is a converted military stock the guy did a very nice job.

    You could be correct. The lightening strike grip cap spacer was their specialty.

    I miss the "old Herters" they had everything back when a dollar was worth a dollar. Those Herters(J.P. Sauer) 6 shot revolvers for $60 would be nice to have around today, heck I'd even pay twice that for a new one, maybe 3 times.
