Ruger No 1 Stock on No 3

Have a No 3 and want to put a more user friendly stock on it. Stocks for the No 1 show up on various forums and E-bay and was wondering if I could use one to replace the stock on the No 3.

Depending on caliber you could end up with a knock on the knuckle from the lever, but both fore end and buttstock interchange.

I’ve got several #3s. By accident I came across a gizmo that looks like a black recoil pad. It’s not it’s a 1” stock extender. Takes place of butt plate. You will be surprised how big a difference 1” makes. The 3# is a PIA to scope because of short distance between bases. This makes eye relief critical. They are available from Midway at about $20.

Thanks for the info, do have a stock extender but haven't installed it yet. Plan to do so before the next range trip

I thought you had to alter the lever of the #3, to work with the #1 stock's pistol grip.

We used to make #1 stock sets - #3 fits no problem. You do have to adjust your grip with the #3 lever. We never changed the lever, you just learn to grip the stock with fingers over the lever.
