Does anyone here have a Whitney Phoenix rifle

My tastes sometimes run towards the obscure and a long ago chance encounter with a Whitney Phoenix rifle has come back to haunt me .

I want one , to make that happen I'll have to build it myself .
To make that happen I need to find someone who actually owns a Phoenix rifle . that might be a tall order . there wasn't that many made .

But hey .. Nothing ventured nothing gained .
If you own one and are willing to spend some time helping I'd be eternally great full

I suppose you know there is a reasonably accurate drawing in De Haas.

Yes I do , but my digital copy didn't reproduce all that well and there are quite a few details I can't make out .

Hmmm... I had to go look at those pictures. Is that sort of a hinged breechblock?

You might check with Rodney Storie. He sells sets of castings for many single shot actions. They need fitting and finish machining, but are less work than reproducing the parts from solid stock.

The Whitney is a copy of the Russian Krnka musket conversion action......both the Krnka and the Whitney were renowned as being a poor design, and consigned to the dustbin of history.
