    Good ole 748 for"j" rounds

Just wanted to say I forgot how well win 748 loads and meters for 62 gr "j" words. I was cleaning up my reloading bench to cast some 135 grain 9 mm bullets the other day and my loader was set up for 223 already so I decided to crank a few out. So they were 26gr of win 748 with hornady j words. They were Excellent shooters great groups. 2" at 150 yards with red dot on a 16" barrel semi auto. Clean burning and duplicate factory load for real 5.56 ammo.

I love how 748 meters through my Redding measure, too.

I use 26.5 gr. 748 for 52 Nosler j words in a 222 Rem Mag in a Cloward custom Model 700. The load can produce 1 hole accuracy @ 100 yards when I do my part. 748BR Ball Rifle propellant introduced in 1968 and replaced by 748 in 1973. It has been claimed the the 748 produces less temperature and reduces barrel wear. I'm glad I have a good supply of 748

I love 748 in the .223. I load from 26.5 to 27.5 grains with a 55 grain bullet for excellent accuracy and as mentioned it meters very well through a measure. I played with it in .308 Winchester and 150 grain bullets a few years ago and got stellar accuracy.
    Great powder in those applications!

Its my favorite for 5.56 and 7.62 NATO with FMJs.

It runs clean & cool, I've gotten my best groups with it, and ya couldn't ask it to meter any better.

Incredibly, I've only used one pound of it in my life. At the end of the bottle, after good performance with 5.56 and 7.62 Nato jacketed loads, I tried it with cast bullets in the 30-30- it really shined there. I'll pick up some more if I find it.

I like it for my AR due to it’s metering ease in my powder dump. Can crank out a lot of ammo in a hurry. Have also used in the .308 and 30/30 with good results. I like having multiple applications for times like these. 748 along with H4895 are a couple of the best.

Only downside to 748 is it is temperature sensitive, lower than expected velocities in the cold and can really spike at upper end loads when it gets hot.

My buddy swears by it for 223. For me H332 does that.

748 is my 30/30 powder. I loaded a couple boxed of Hornady 170 sp back about 1990. Ill likly never need load more as its a hunting bullet only

But I like it!! I just loaded up some For a 358 Win load and a 220g WOW it shot good and almost 2400 fps! CW

A couple years ago I got on a 30-30 reloading kick. Had a bunch of 150 and 170 gr bullets from RMR. Using 35 gr 748, I loaded about a thousand. Very good load and the bullets were cheap enough that we use them for plinking and 500 yard rams.
