    356" check material

I need to make some checks for my 350L . I am using the 200gr rcbs copy from mp molds. I am sizing the bullet to 0.356". I tried to use some litho plate alum but that is not working. The litho I have measures 0.0185" I think this is too thick.

    What are you using?

to the OP, I make my own checks and have bought Amerimax Rolled Aluminum Flashing. They offer the following sizes: Size Versa (.0078") Economy (.0092") Standard (.014") Commercial (.0167"). I have purchased and used the .0078 and the .0092. I have purchased 2 different thicknesses due to varied boolit check shanks.

I don't recall what the store bought check thickness standard is, but there is one thing I do have experience with. Lead is going to to size down under the pressure of seating the boolit and check, without a problem when firing. Standard checks should size to the smaller size of the Legend chamber. I also make plain base gas checks, soda pop cans are thinner than energy drink cans. Just for reference, some folks think a thicker plain base check makes a difference, but that is not my experience.

One more thing, I anneal my aluminum before I punch the discs, makes the cut, form, and seat better. There are vendors here who sell aluminum checks. If you go that route, you can anneal formed checks by baking them in an oven. YMMV

I too also use the Amerimax Aluminum flashing (#66314). This is their 0.0078" thickness. Cut and forms real well once you have the dies made to the correct tolerances.
