1) late 70’s vintage Colt Diamondback 4” .38
2) late 70’s vintage Colt Series 70 Gov’t model .45acp

I traded the former for the later...then sold that one for tuition money. (Yes. College tuition at the University of New Orlens at that time was only $265 per semester) I remember the Diamondback was right around $200 brand new.

1) Ruger .44 magnum 50th Anniversary Flat Top model with 6 1/2" barrel.

This revolver was very accurate and was made when Ruger was still producing revolvers with care. Sold it only because I needed the money.

2) Colt Government Model Mark IV Series 70

Purchased this new in 1972. Very high standard of quality back then. It was my first new handgun.

I miss my Winchester mod 52B. It had a Lyman super target spot scope on it. I sold it when I filed for a divorce. I won several small bore matches with it. It was amazing to shoot

I miss two, but have no regrets about parting with them.

I inherited my Grandfather's top break S&W in .38S&W that he carried under the seat of a horse drawn freight wagon
when he was a young man.

At the time the estate was divided up, one of my cousins was a Texas State Trooper working as a (deep) undercover narcotics officer.
What his Mom got from the estate ended up with his brother and sisters. He didn't inherit anything from our Grandparents.
About 15 years ago,
I figured I'd looked at, and had enjoyed Grand Dad's old pistol long enough, and decided to give him a turn with it.


I also ended up with my other Grandfather's old Colt .38Spec. he'd bought used in the late 1920s or so.
He was a career lawman, and wore it on his belt for around 40 years.
I enjoyed it for several years, and gave it to one of my other cousins on his side of the family to cherish for awhile.


The only one that I wish would come back was a M-1 Carbine made during WWII by Rock-Ola, and was more or less unfired.
I'd inherited it from my Grandfather who kept it to carry on man-hunts for prison escapees in Mississippi.
It was stolen in a burglary back in the 80's.

Wife had a near mint nickel Diamondback, it was pretty but we both kinda thought “eh” about it, but we wouldnt mind having it back to sell now lol. Same with my JM Marlin 1895 cowboy 45/70 lol.

One I forgot to mention was my Ruger single six. It was a 1956 model with the flat loading gate. It was made one year only. I had the side rig holster and belt with it. It had great character and wear in all the right places. I miss it at times

I had a 4" diamond back and 4" python from about that time I wish I had back .
They would bring at least $2000 .more now than I sold them for.

Colt Pocket Hammerless .380 , don't remember which model . Gave $50 for it .
LC Smith Field Grade 20 gauge 28" choke bored and in like new condition . Too tightly choked for a bird gun so I sold it . Gave a whopping $200 for it .
Colt New Frontier .22 LR/Mag
30-40 Krag Carbine . Gave $117.00 for it .
'03 Springfield , WWI date and all matching that I found at a flea market for $75 in the early '80's .
#2500 1903 Winchester .22 Auto , another $50 gun.

Probably others but these are the ones I miss the most .

S&W 58,- 57 4inch,- 29 -2. - and a 1903 colt 32acp that a Friend gave me (he brought it back from WW2) I sure was dumb in my Youth.

Most of those that I sold or traded have since been replaced, but the 3 1/2 inch Model 27 that I got back in 75 still calls to me.

That was a darned good gun and it made me a good shot. But when my second daughter was born, my wife wasn't working and our health insurance had a 500 dollar deductible that had to be met, so the 27 went down the highway. I've never seen another when I've had money. I have a nice M-28 and a Colt Python now, but I still miss my old friend.

1. 1st. issue Ruger standard automatic .22 bought new for $37.50
2. Winchester 1895 30-40 traded even for a new CZ 12 ga. double
3. S&W 6 1/2" 25-5 sold because I had a 4" & a 8 3/8" & thought I didn't need the 6.5"
