    Straightening brass casings

Hi im trying to figure out if i can save some casing ive got. The 50mbg casings are crooked as a jay bird at the rim and am trying to figure out how to straighten them.
They are once fired military brass. It seems like they were yanked out of a chamber before the pressure dropped and got bent on extraction. My first thought was fire forming them straight if i can get them to chamber. Hope you can help me thanks.

Have you full-length sized the cases? That will probably straighten them enough to chamber in your rifle, and it won't cost you anything to try. If you can find any, Hornady makes new 50 BMG cases.

Yeah, those actions are pretty violent. I made a set of bookends from used 20mm brass once and was surprised by how crooked the case heads were. I'd try Tatume's idea; once through the sizer and then fired in a bolt or semi-auto, might straighten them right out.

Set the case head on a flat hard surface such as an anvil or concrete floor. Insert a flat faced 1/2 steel rod in the neck till it touches the inside bottom of the case. Whack it with a hammer, once should do it.

Are you sure they are once fired?

Reason I ask is the M2HB and all aircraft versions use a T-slot in the bolt to pull the case out of the chamber. I don't think it is possible for the brass to get stretched sideways in a Browning. Maybe in a Barret, I was never around one of those firing.
