New year, new toy

Will do so, perhaps as early next Tuesday or Wednesday. I only shoot outdoors. Not expecting rain next week, but with the wind you never really know until you get up that day. I had a "0" MOA EGW rail on hand from a previous Remington 700. It mounted without issue as expected, but I am undecided on the scope. For its first outing I think I am going to try a Weaver T-36 that is currently mounted on an older heavy barrel target 10-22. I am not expecting zero issues with the Bergara. That way I won't be disappointed. It will all get sorted out in time. After some fouling shots, I plan on trying some of the Lapua Midas and SK plus ammo that I have on hand.

I have a Weaver T36 and use it for 200 yards and longer on my long range rifle. Seems like it might be a bit of overkill for a 22 but you will certainly be able to aim precisely with it.

After I get it squared away at 50 yards, my “plan” is to shoot it regularly at 100 and 200 yards. But if I don’t like the scope on this rifle, I will get something else.

Well, in the last few days several 1” scopes that I had on other rifles got placed on the B14, but I didn’t like the aesthetics of any of them until I tried a Leupold VX-3i 4.5-14x40mm that I had a a Scar 17s. This scope is a 30mm tube with side focus. I would like to shoot the rifle later this week so for its first outing it would have to go out with the extra high quick-detach rings it wore on the Scar. My order for lower 30mm rings will arrive next week, but I may not be willing to wait. The Scar will wear a new scope somewhere down the road.

Common sense found me again. I am going to wait until next week to shoot the B-14. The new lower rings and 20 MOA base should be here no later than Monday, perhaps sooner. No sense in shooting good ammo this week and then basically starting over next week.

Oh man. Now you've done it. That rifle is going to think you don't love it, leaving it sit there with a scope on it and not shooting it.
You definitely have more patience than I do.

Good weather today so the new toy went to the range. About 150 rounds were fired. Only one failure to fire. No ejection or feed issues. However, the rifle/scope was not set up optimally (by me) for shooting off the bench. I could not get a decent sight picture at 14X. I will remove 2 spacers to shortened the LOP and also slide the scope back some. The target below is the last of the day at 8X using Federal 37 grain HP.

I added a Tikka t1x to the stable today, and I ordered an Area 419 scope rail a few minutes ago. It will be interesting to see how the T1x and Bergara do against each other. Of course, the real limiting factor in any comparison will be me. For now at least, I plan to keep the T1x light. It is going to start out wearing a vintage Burris mini 6x AO that I have had for many years.

Following with interest . I have never seen one of these rifles in person, been thinking of getting one . I have a T1x, it will be interesting to see how it compares in your experience. .

I have been reading a lot of good reviews of the T1X. Lots of reviews on you tube as well. It will be interesting to see how yours compares.
They are supposed to be about the same performance as my CZ457 MTR.
