Pardon me if this has been asked before

Is anybody else working with Redding S body dies? I just picked up a competition die set for .308 and a thought occurred to me, since the body is common to the family of cartridges, is there a reason a .308 S-body die couldn't be used for sizing 7-08 with the appropriate neck sizer die bushing?

I've never worked with S-body dies before and am curious because I'm now feeding 3 different 7-08 rifles.

It's been a while since I've used my Redding bushing dies but the best I recall you are correct. No need in buying the 7-08 die if you have the 308 die. I only used the body die when the brass would get a little snug in the rifle's chamber, usually every 4 or 5 firings for me.
    Good Luck,

S sizing dies are different than Redding competition sizing dies... S dies lack the sliding sleeve around the case.

    But yes, it should work.
I give loading advice based on my actual results in factory rifles with standard chambers, twist rates and basic accurizing.
My goals for using cast boolits are lots of good, cheap, and reasonably accurate shooting, while avoiding overly tedious loading processes.

As long as shoulder angle and body taper are the same it should work other wise you could neck size
