    Beer Bread

Pulled out the Manicotti recipie the other day and noticed a beer bread recipie above it. Tried it today. First time doing it. Turned out really well. Used Modello beer. 12 oz bottle
Mixed 3 cups self rising flour, 1/4 cup sugar and the beer, in a bowl. Mixed well and put in a lightly buttered bread load pan. Poured about 1/8th cup of melted butter over the top and baked for about 52 min in a 350 degree oven.

Pretty good and it was easy to make. I have already cut off both ends while warm and buttered them. Didn't last long

WOW! 1/4 cup of sugar! I never expected to see that.

But if you liked it that's what counts.

We used honey instead of suger in ours. The wife also brushed some crystallized honey on top as well. The honey on top gave it a nice crunch to the crust.

The heels of home made bread eaten while still warm is to die for.
    Plenty of butter.
Adding some honey only makes it better.

I miss making homemade bread. When I used to brew my own beer I would replace 1 cup of the flour with 1 cup of spent grains. My Dad used to love darker malt grains--it used to make this heavy, "toothy" black bread that was really good.

I never tried actually mixing beer in though. That sounds interesting!

Beer, Bread, thinly sliced barbecued tri tip between two slices, sounds like potato salad or chili on the side would round off that good start.

Made some yesterday and couldn't find the recipie. goofed. Was thinking pancake batter and put two eggs in the batter. Turned out really good anyhow. Used Dos XX amber beer. Had to add a little more flour because of the extra liquid of the eggs
