Does anyone still make these? Of course, if not I can just use a jag and cloth patches (I've heard that 50/50 water and anti-freeze works well) for swabbing between shots.

RFD has a thread on his homemade bore pigs.
if you are ever being chased by a taxidermist, don't play dead
There are a number of varieties of homemade bore pigs floating around.
A lot of shooters have went to using the Bore Wipe System sold by Buffalo Arms with great results.
If shooting a greaser, a rifle caliber nylon brush pushing a damp patch followed by a dry patch, works well.
Wiping solutions run a full gamete from plain water to some pretty convoluted solutions of water oils soaps and commercial bore cleaners, to rv antifreeze to 50-50 prestone.
i prefer to use a mixture of NAPA cutting oil and water mixed 1-7, a friend of mine that is one the tough ones to beat at a match and his wife use Volkswagen antifreeze.
Long range rules, the rest drool.
What is a bore pig exactly?

For winter freezing weather shooting I use windshield washer anti-freeze mixed at half strength as I don’t need minus 35* protection. The windshield washer fluid is designed to clean.
I wouldn’t use radiator/engine anti-freeze.
Rifle bore pig. It’s a homemade device for quick cleaning the bore between shots.
It is made with a bore brush with felt wads and rubber discs attached.
The bore pig loosens and squeegees out BP fouling in one pass.
There are photos of bore pigs shown in the attached URL.

Thank you for the explanation and the link. Are they kept in water while shooting? In the video, the shooter pushed them through the bore and let them drop out the muzzle, apparently onto the ground. Should there be something clean for them to fall on or into? Seems like you would need a bunch to get through a match. Where do you get one of those flexible rods?
Please excuse all my questions. I’m not new to black powder shooting but I have set my mind on starting to compete. I’m trying to learn some of the tricks.
Thanks again!

Run down to Farm and Fleet and get one of those 12 inch rubber feed pans to put on the ground at the muzzle to catch the wipers. Check out Sycamore Stations to get nice built rods, or should be able to get delrin rods at Home Depot, Menards etc.
Long range rules, the rest drool.
Here's a link to the rods https://sycamorestations.com/product...cleaning-rods/

JKR - I don't know how these fellows set up their delrin rods but delrin ramrods are available with a brass tip threaded for brushes, jags, etc. You can find them on fleabay and probably Track of the Wolf carries them as well - you'd have to look it up.
I have purchased fiberglass ramrods off of felabbay from fellows who also carry them in delrin - you can get various sizes such as 5/16, 3/8, etc. A fiberglass rod is stiff but will bend to a degree - a delrin rod is much more flexible. I use a fiberglass rod for cleaning my Smith Carbine while shooting when necessary - but the rifles these fellows are shooting are a whole different animal.
Gad the question got asked as to what a bore hog is as I have never seen one either - thanks for the links to the photos.
Can someone post the link to RFD's thread on them if you have it? Thanks!
Where’s a good place to buy the parts to make these?

I just found that Midway and others now have Tipton brand felts in various calibers.
A bag of 50 comes with a "jag" to use with them. A bit cheaper than the German VFG felts

Brent's bore gophers are best, at least for me, and easy to make ....
I started to make some for the .44 caliber and .40. Freezing the fingers this time of year got to be too much
I have close to 50 of each now but I have not used them yet to see how they work.
I did order some 1/8" soft rubber sheet material for cutting some squeegees in case the leather belt wads don't do the job.
I have about $15. dollars invested it this project.
