    Want a 30 like the 32 question

I've had great results with the RCBS 32-170 FN in my 32-40 and 32 WS rifles. I'm looking to repeat that success with an Accurate mold in 30 for my 30-30 and 30-40 rifles. Anybody have opinions on the Accurate 31-170JG or the 31-170E? The E looks like it has a closer nose profile to the RCBS mold on paper.

    Thanks in advance for comments.

Profile is less important than fit. Do a pound cast of the chamber neck, ball seat and origin of rifling and after measuring those, have Tom cut a mold to fit. Accurate 31-155D and 31-171D are my designs for plain-base and GC bullets to do press-fit in the origin of rifling in my several pre-WW2 Winchester Model 94s, and they shoot quite well. They also shoot well in my pre-WW2 Winchester Model 54 and Model 70 .30-'06 rifles.

I shoot 6 grains of Bullseye with the 155-grain plainbased bullet in .30-30, and 7 grains in the .30-'06 as a small game and gallery load. With the GC bullet in the .30-30 I can shoot full jacketed charges, and in the .30-'06 I use either 16 grains of Aliant #2400 as a plinker, or 30 grains of 4895, RL15 or Varget to approximate .30-30 ballistics in the .30-'06 rifle.

I've had great luck with my M94 Win in .30/30 with the RCBS 30-150-FN. About a scaled down version of the 32-170-FN. Take a look at it. I HP'd mine and that's about all that I shoot./beagle
