Need press for 1 1/4 " 12 tpi for .577 Schneider die

11/4" dia 12tpi. For 577 Schneider.

If there ever was a topic that belonged somewhere besides this, the Casting and Reloading Hand Tools section this would be it! Nonetheless, I would think that one of the large presses made by RCBS, Herter’s, and even Lyman might work for you. Each of these has/had a large threaded hole intended primarily for shotgun or 50 BMG. I haven’t checked my Lyman or Herter’s presses for size and thread pitch, but that’s about the size they are.

You might find more useful information on the page for Reloading Equipment. You might also send a PM to pressman who knows more about presses than just abou anybody out there.

PS I’ve got a Lyman Comet press missing the step down bushing for its large hole. If you’re willing to rebore it or make a bushing as needed, it’s yours for the cost of shipping. I’d like it out of my basement.

The Lee Classic Cast Single Stage has the 1-1/4 - 12 threading that you want. It comes with a plastic bushing that will step down to 7/8 - 14.

Green Frog - the step down bushing is available as a spare part for about $10. They also have a 1-1/2 - 12 step down bushing if that is what you need for $12.

EDIT The Lee step down bushings step down to their Breech Lock threading not the 7/8 - 14. My bad.

There's an outfit on the net that makes all kinds of adapters for reloading presses. Don't recall the name but maybe someone else will chime in here. He had all kinds of adapters for old presses. You might look at CH-4D. They make all kinds of adapter and gizmos to make things work in reloading. Give them a call. The rep I talked to one time on a holiday even was very helpful and got a ruptured cartridge extractor out to me on the first business day for the .38-55. Only place I ever saw one. Might have what you want./beagle

The Buchanan hand press is available with bushings, I wonder if it would be able to fit the size needed with a custom adapter.

uh,,, my Lock and Load Hand Press will do this. I have a guy who loads .577 NE on one.

All you do is remove the LNL conversion bushing and the top plate is threaded 1 1/4-12.

The tool has more than enough mechanical advantage to size those cases.

I can't speak for the State of Kali-, but in MN, I often see a old Herter's "C" Press at the gunshows, usually go cheap, they have the 1-1/4 - 12 threads in the frame with a slim headed reducer for 7/8-14 dies.

Even my old RCBS Reloader Special #3 is bushed to 7/8 X 14. I loaded 577/450 on it.

you need. These are large robust presses, etc.
