    Thank you kindly, Murf.

That was a test of my handloads - 22.5 gr H110 under a j-word Hornady 240gr XTP bullet (which the previous owner of the pistol had recommended to me) in Starline brass, Win primers. I later chrono'd the factory SBR (Hornady 240gr XTP bullet) ammo versus that load:

Good looking groups and holster Andy!

Thanks for the tip on the parts, I've never had to replace anything, but it's good to know there are some still out there.

I don’t have either the 44 or 357 Automag pistols, but I have a RCBS form die set for both. I actually have two sets for 357 but one doesn’t have a reamer. No extended shell holders, which is unfortunate.

From what I've read they intend to service and support the older guns, right now they're focused on getting the new ones out to customers.

Garandsrus, you can get the extended shell holders fairly easily, RCBS ones anyways, I had to buy a #3 (308 etc.) a short while ago. Before the current covid shortages but those shouldn't be unobtanium hopefully.

I've made $4K on my 401K in the past 3 months, have a #3 RCBS extended shell holder, but would need dies. I have a +bucket of 308 / 30-06 brass and sufficient experience annealing brass case necks. But at almost 73 do I need a semi-auto wrist buster when I have eight 44 mag S&W revolvers. I sold my 10-5/8" M29 Silhouette revolver 4 years ago (before shoulder surgery) because I couldn't 'hold it up' to shoot.

I believe I will reluctantly pass, until I sell the 44 mag revolvers, at least 6 of them.

Would love to see a comparison test between the new Automag and a Desert Eagle 44 mag

I used to have one. Mine was a TDE model. I bought it N.O.S. My friend was a dealer, and I still don't know how he found this. I sold it about 30 years ago, to someone who wanted it real bad. As I remember, it had feeding issues, and would constantly break small parts. I finally got tired of it. I made my own cases out of .308 brass. I had a friend that shot Hi-power, and would give me all his split neck cases. I had the RCBS case forming die set. Just run the case in the die, cut it off flush with a hacksaw, and file the case top smooth. There is a crank type reamer, to thin the brass out at the neck, so it will accept the bullets. I had the factory case, an extra magazine, and a Safariland shoulder holster, to go with it. I regret selling it now, not because I liked shooting it, but it is a neat gun to have. As a new homeowner, I needed the money then, but now I could afford to keep it. Isn't that the way it always is.

Nature’s way of keeping us in check... by the time we can afford to buy much of the stuff we dream of in our youth, we are too old and worn out to enjoy owning and using it! It’s Karma, I guess.

Only part that's broken on mine so far is the rear-sight elevation screw - quickly replaced. The interesting news is that they put one of the new ones through a 5,000 round torture test and it passed - so get your name on the list
