    NOE strikes again

I was sitting on my quick easy hunting seat on public land today when I saw him in the distance. I watched him come on in slowly but steadily. He started rubbing a tree then he took a few steps and started to make a scrape. That's when I dropped the hammer on him with my Rem 700 in 30.06. I aimed at his neck and the NOE 311165rf 50:50 wheel weight/pure lead put him down right there. Distance was around 35 yards. My buddy who only shoots factory rounds said it was a "cheap shot". I asked what he meant and he said how much did that lead bullet and reload cost? I said about .07 cents. He said that's why I call it a "Cheap shot".

I generally go for lungs but I had a solid rest, the distance was real close and I felt confident taking the shot. bang flop.

If you can hit a pop can you can hit a deer's neck. And deer are real nice about holding still for the shot if you are patient and wait for it

    Way cool!

A buddy asked me how much cheaper it was to reload.
I told him I wasn't exactly sure, but I thought I was in the process of going broke by saving money to find out.

    Good morning and Congratulations !!
There is nothing cheap about finding lead, a mold, casting the perfect slug, sizing, load development and finally dropping the hammer. That is a serious hunter who gets back to the roots of the pioneer mentality..
The eating part sure does taste far better.

Wow...that's a beauty. Its such a great feeling when you get one with your own cast.

I prefer the neck shot as well. Even if you miss bone the shock severs the spinal cord. I have never tracked or lost a neck shot deer. Good work!!!

Nice shot. Now for the good stuff. We just had backstrap with a beer cheese sauce that was phenomenal. Girlfriend had gone to a fancy fondue place once and she said this blew it away. Found the recipe online. Good luck

Thanks for sharing Pac. And good job on the backstrap Mr. Wolfe. I knew Mrs. Thumbcocker was a keeper when she scarfed down 2 of my deer burritos.
