    Kit guns

Anyone build a Jim Kibler kit. What other kits are out there? Looking at a 40 or 45 flintlock.

I teach a kibler kit assembly class at the NMLRA Education Center a couple times a year. The Southerm Mountain is available in .32, .36 and .40. The Colonial is available in .50, .54 and .58. I can assemble one of these kits in about 4 hours, ready for sanding and filing. These are as near as "snap together as you're ever going to see. I would also recomend any of the Chambers kits, butv there is alot more work involved with these.Click image for larger version.

    Check out Pecatonica River kits.
I just got a Blunderbuss Flintlock from them , and it seems pretty nice , even for the bare basic hardware I ordered.

All depends on how much work you want to do yourself on it . Honestly I wouldn't buy a kit besides a chambers or kiebler that already has the lock inlet in the stock as it's usually not located correctly
If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck!

You can't go wrong with a Kibler kit. I built the SMR in .45 cal. It's the finest holding rifle I own. I'm currently building the Colonial rifle in .58. The quality of the parts is top of the line. The Kibler Colonial lock is a masterpiece. He is now using Green Mountain blanks and doing his own swamp profiles. His method for breeching the barrels is genius. The barrel pin lugs are an integral part of the barrel and are cut when the blank is machined for profile. Check out his videos on YouTube.

I built a Kibler .54 Colonial, and the ease of building will absolutely depend on your gunsmith knowledge base and what's in yer tool chest. Definitely NOT like an offshore screwdriver kit! Jim is coming out with a fowler kit for probably late 2021 and that's my next build.
