First cb kill

I finally found a doe to shoot with my Ruger American in 358 win shooting a lee 200 grain flat point from 75% wheel weights and 25% soft lead powder coated with no gas checks since they are going through a suppressor. Shot her at about 50 yards, great pass through, broke 2 ribs on each side. I'm really impressed with the performance of this boolit. I've been wanting to take a deer with a boolit I made for a while and this combination seems to work well for me!

Regarding the suppressor usage: I hunt/shoot almost exclusively suppressed. I got into it because of tinnitus caused by some shooting, but daily chainsaw and power tool usage. For the record, I always used orange MAX plugs or the yellow precursors from EAR, both of which provide about 3-5 dB reduction. So, quelling the noise at the source is the best option for me (being an engineer and all). Shooting slower usually means less bullet performance. Not always, and there are some nuances, but one need not shoot subsonic to gain from a suppressor. If you do intend to shoot game subsonic, my opinions are these: 1. Use the softest alloy or pure lead. 2. Hollow point your cast bullets. Deeper is better with little limitation. 3. Use a tremendously long, nearly unstable bullet. They tumble and act like a broadhead, rather than a field point (on an arrow).
I shoot calibers from 17 to 50, plus shotgun, through cans. Some of the gains are tremendous. Some are lackluster. Yes, the subsonic bullets are super quiet. But the blast removed from even a 338 Lapua and 89ish grains of Retumbo makes the sound of the bullet impacting a deer as loud as the muzzle blast, as heard 600 yards from both (that happened just last night, reported by two of my boys). Subjective, yes, but the real world benefits from suppressor usage far outweigh any costs in my world.

Don't get snowed into thinking you have to sacrifice bullet performance or your hearing. You may have both.

I don't have my load data, but, I had it running about 1,800 fps. The suppressor really tames recoil and makes the rifle much more enjoyable to shoot! This particular rifle is very front heavy with the suppressor though due to the longer barrel. I look at my notes later today and post up my load.
