Eye surgery report

This has not been without complications. In short I am a steroid over responder. When you have eye surgery you start before surgery with steroid drops. For four weeks after you have steroid drops. For good reason my MD added a second, more powerful steroid drop post surgery. I went in six days later with a pressure of 42, and he did a painful procedure that dropped that pressure down to a three. Twenty minutes later it was 26.
It took six days for my vision to clear. Three days of very unclear vision, then able to drive, with still one good eye. Major discomfort of feeling that something was in my eye for that time.

Now ten days out and no discomfort, pressure being monitored, steroid getting out of my system, and back to normal.

Glad that worked out. I'm considering basil and everyone I've spoken with says it's great but if something goes wrong I'm unemployed as a truckdriver

Sorry you had complications with your IOP.

In my case they did the glaucoma procedure while I was mildly sedated for the cataract surgery and lens implant. While I had to be transported to a different operating room from where the cataract surgery was done, the additional procedure was done quickly and with minimal discomfort. The compounding pharmacy used by the hospital prepared a cocktail combining several eyedrops in one bottle so that I only had to use one set of drops rather than three. Now a year later I'm very pleased with the results.

Next one is a week from Monday. I'll be seeing the surgeon Monday and will ask him if he wants to proceed any different on this eye.

What was the surgery for?

Cataract removal, lens replacement, correction of nearsightedness, and correction of glaucoma. Same procedures a week from today (Monday) on the right eye.

I had that done last year with a laser, no problems but still need glasses. Not as strong but still glasses.

We sprang for the most advanced adjustable lenses - and I am blessing that decision. I am finding that my close vision takes time to develop. It seams the more I practice reading the clearer my vision gets. Sorting 9mm brass is a challenge at the moment - even in the evening after I've used the eyes all day. I expect that will get easier - my right eye is less than a week old, after all.

All good report from yesterday, 20/15 left eye, 20/20 right eye - most recently operated on. Yesterday I was able to sort 9mm polished by head stamp with relative ease.
