I am looking for information on what I believe is a 91/24 carcano. What confuses me is the rifle is stamped 1936 terni but has a 91 adjustable rear sight. Any info is helpful.

91/24 rifles were model 91 long rifles that were cut down starting in 1924.
The 1936 you see is the date yours was cut down I think.

The M1891/24 carbine is listed as a separate variation in "Rifles of the World", Smith, 1965 (2nd Printing), Pg. 300 with the following information:
Caliber: 6.5mm
Overall length: 36.2"
Barrel length: 17.7"
Feed device: 6 round in line no-detachable box magazine.
Sights: Front: Barleycorn Rear: Tangent w/V notch graduated from 500-1500M. leaf turned over for battle sight.
Weight: 6.9 lbs.
Muzzle velocity: 2297 fps.
Remarks: Uses knife-type bayonet. Bolt handle bent, except for lower band the same as M1891 TS carbine.
My personal belief, not having pictures to look at, is that you are mis-identifying your rifle. The M91/24TS was only performed as a conversion for a few years. In 1928, the Italians began converting existing M91TS into M91/28TS models. Then in 1930 or so, they began to make the M91/28TS as newly made arms. This continued into I believe 1938. That is when the fixed sighted M38 in 7.35 began to be made.

The M91/24 has a bigger rear sight. If you see that sight on a 1936 dated barrel, it is almost certainly some gunsmith cob job done after WWII.
In my travels, the M91/28TS is far more common than the M91/24TS.
