    Nice shooting!

Which mold did you use and what size were the bullets?

I have had luck with Lyman 287405 bullets sized to .288 in my Venezuelan and Chilean Mausers.

I am currently loading some 168gr out of my RCBS mold to try in my 7x57 Rolling block. Mine has a mint bore, an am anxious to see how it shoots with cast.

    Hi atr,

Did you use standard 7 mm & fire form it with this load?

Did you take the extra step to resize it to 30 cal. & reduce back to 7mm to better fill in the overbore pre SAMMI chamber specs. in the Rolling block barrel?
The first time I shot the #5 I was VERY surprised with the now double neck ion the case! I found out here, it was normal! I read some were on line the Rolling block 7mm bullet will be more accurate with the second step as it fills the chamber better. Your thoughts?

This is a on going project for me. so your input & other peoples thoughts are very helpful to me.

Thanks in advance for getting me back on track,

trying to answer the questions from broomhandle:
    1. The brass was fire formed and then just neck sized.
    2. I did NOT resize to 30 cal. and I have not had a problem with the double neck you mentioned
    3. when I seat the boolits I seat them just short of the rifling. Bear in mind that the RRB's have a long throat so long boolits work best.
    4. the boolits are seated in two steps: first I seat for overall length NO Crimping. the second step is the crimp so I back off the seating depth and screw the die down until the crimping action is engaged. I think that getting a good, uniform crimp is a key to accuracy.
    I hope this helps

as an aside, I did shoot the second half of the box of 20 shooting at red clay disks at 100 yds. Those disks, the ones the shotgunner use for practice measure a little over 3" in diameter, and I found that I could hit them easily at the 100 yd range.

    Hi atr,

I'm told my RB is a later model 1910 as it has a band front sight. I'll try your loads soon & get back to you.
If you have the time, can you post a picture or two of your fired cases? It would be a big help to me.

    Thanks for your reply,
    broom
