Yes, I did a post on it.

The solid soft lead bullet is undoubtably the best and most satisfactory expanding bullet that has ever been designed. It invariably mushrooms perfectly, and never breaks up. With the metal base that is essential for velocities of 2000 f.s. and upwards to protect the naked base, these metal-based soft lead bullets are splendid.

Nice rifle, nice buck, nice hat!
Some people live and learn but I mostly just live
Thanks for the reply and the links to your excellent work in refurbishing this old rifle. Very informative and enjoyable.
Ah yes, window hunting! No deer out my window, but I have scored a groundhog and a few rabbits. Dad shot a bear from the window once...
My grandmother always said everytime my grandfather and uncles went out hunting there were deer in the yard and they could have just stayed home...
congrats!!!!!!!

Now please tell us more about the hat , I am guessing more then one of us here is curious about the style and the maker .
Nice job on the deer, lets hear about the hat. Frist thing I noticed in picture
Yeah, I remember the term from when folks that should know better,
used it so they (hopefully) wouldn't offend people that hate us anyway,
and think all meat items should only come from the grocery store-
since no animals are harmed in the process of getting them there.
I guess their reasoning was if we used politicly correct terms, they might hate us a little less.

OK People. Enough of this idle chit-chat.

This is a copy of the hat Charles Bent wore when he was running Bent's Fort. John Stetson also used it as his original pattern, Boss of the Plains. Most hats companies sell under that name, but are nothing like the orginal. 4" brim, 3 3/4 " crown. I got it from H&H Hats in Darby, Montana. They use a form to fit to your head, and build from that. I think prices for a blended fur start around $650. Mine is pure undyed beaver, and ran more. Jimmy is at the Arizona shop this time of year, Rich runs the Montana shop in the winter. Call Jimmy for details.

Took me a minute to figure out what rifle you’ve got there.
At first glance the bottom of the hammer looks like a bolt handle.
