Brass or not?

My buddy gave me some of this stuff is it really aluminum? Or just coated steel? Releasable?

I am sure it is aluminum. CCI blazer ammo was non-reloadable aluminum cased ammunition

Its Alum. that was their head to head competition against CCI Blazers.

It'd be easy enough to check, but its probably Berdan primed also.
If not, I don't think I'd reload it anyway.

I assumed aluminum plated for corrosion but wouldn’t think full casing buddy gave me the 20 rounds guess I’ll shoot em and toss em. I wouldn’t think alum would hold up to resizing very well.

I foolishly reloaded some 9mm about 25yrs ago just to prove it could be done, bad move as the cases split. Be smart shoot and boot. Regards Stephen

The above poster is correct, I reloaded them one time thinking I could use them in places where I couldn't get the brass back , but everyone of them split.

Aluminum cases, some copper wire and JB Weld make good donors for the production of DIY, dip-type powder measures.

Aluminum thru and thru. At least those I have picked up around here are. And they are NOT re-loadable due to the cases cracking and the Berdan primers.

Like said in above post "shoot'em and boot 'em."

And I have never heard of anything or any product that is "aluminum plated". Some metals you just do not plate with.

9mm REAL brass is very easy to find on most locations, per many comments on here. I have over 175# of it ready for processing.

I have more 9mm brass than I wanna shoot but it was intriguing to see the aluminum casings since that was new to me. Seen painted and laqoured steel but never aluminum.

Blazer has a popular brand of aluminum cased pistol ammo. Very easy to recognize by color, weight, and the fact they tend to "float" to the top of a pile of brass being shaken in a separator. I think, at least at one time, they were also Berdan primed to pointedly make them difficult to reload.

They go straight into the trash can. Guy Neill, in his USPSA Front Sight magazine reloading column, doesn't recommend reloading them for a variety of reasons. One I remember is that aluminum doesn't have the same spring back as brass, so sizing and case mouth expanding aluminum cases with standard dies is problematic.

If they aren't Berdan primed and don't have the built-in internal step you can reload them. Expect case life of about five reloads/
