Lyman 450 using a smaller die to seat?

Gentlemen,
I have only been casting for 3 months now, but am enjoying it tremendously, as well as this site. I have acquired many physical tools as well as knowledge here.
I recently got a 429-421 mold from a member and really like it. So much that I got a mold that is similar but uses a gas check (cant remember the number). Anyway, I also got a lyman 450 and some .44 gas checks from other members. So here is my question:

When I'm using the seater stem hickey for the 450 do I want to use a sizing die one size smaller? I am planning on sizing these boolits to .430, do I want to first seat the gas check with a .429? That way once the check is crimped on when I go to size and lube the boolit the check won't run the .430 die.

I may be overthinking this, I just want to make sure.

you are over thinking this.

Have you measured a GC? I am reasonably sure it's larger than .430 or .431 or even .432
also an aluminum or copper GC being pushed through a die, that has lube residue on it, isn't gonna get ruined.

I size all my 44 cal bullets at .431. snap on a gas check and lube size the bullet. if gas checks fall off I dab bottom of bullet in some lube to help gas check stick then snap on gas check and lube size.

The 429421 is a plain base bullet. So unless you're using plain base gas checks it won't work.

Correct sir. I stated that the mold I will be using is similar, a Kieth style. It is Lyman 429244D, almost identical but has a gas check cut in it.
