    1927 Winchester 1894

I stumbled across a Winchester 1894 today, when I first saw it I thought it was a new Chiappa 1892, it’s got a beautiful walnut stock and is a 20 inch saddle ring carbine complete with flip up ladder sight and steel carbine buttplate. I was surprised to see that it is actually a Winchester 1894 SRC in 30-30. The s/n is 1,026,000 which puts it as made in 1927. It’s incredibly nice for a gun that pushing 100 years old.

It has been refinished, Ok by me as I wouldn’t have spent the money for an original anywhere near this nice. It wasn’t dirt cheap, but it was one of those guns I knew better than to walk away from, it would haunt me from now on. I’ve been on the lookout for a clean pre 64 Win 94, and there are just very few around and they are $$$$ when you find one.

I’ll get some pics up shortly.

I have it's cousin the 32 spl made the same year with the same trim . Those ladder sights are nice with plinker loads .

It appears that it has been refinished but it was done by someone who knew what they were doing. It hasn’t been polished round.

Oh they made that one last week who are you kidding???

That's freakin' GORGEOUS!! I had an old one in 30-30 just like that once many years ago, it was a little noisy for woods carry best I remember but it was a LOT of fun to shoot!
Got a .22 .30 .32 .357 .38 .40 .41 .44 .45 .480 or .500 S&W cylinder that needs throats honed? 9mm, 10mm/40S&W, 45 ACP pistol barrel that won't "plunk" your handloads? 480 Ruger or 475 Linebaugh cylinder that needs the "step" reamed to 6° 30min chamfer? What's that between the butt plate and stock? Looks like felt or leather.

I personally don’t usually like the way refinished guns look and prefer a 15% original finish gun to one that has been all redone but that there is a beautiful job. No softening of the markings or edges. Superb looking rifle!

I think it looks like Acraglas to refit the buttplate on a stock that was damaged in the area but that’s just a guess.

I prefer a rifle with honest wear, but a good refinish job is okay.

Nothing, it’s just not fit quite right.

Nice gun! Seems some are jealous of your find and have to piss on your fortune. Enjoy your find I would have taken it home.
