Anyone have an idea what these may be? Approx. 20 feet long, cut like lead, scratch like lead.
Some type of oil field tool?
They have approx. 9000 pounds at the scrap yard. Available for pickup.

Have you done an acid test, that may rule zinc out.

If it's a scrap yard, can't they analyze it?

    Not yet.
They sold me 45 pounds of #2 babbitt for $1 a pound. They do not own an Xrf gun.
I was just curious if anyone knew what these tools might be.

Need a better pic of the tool part, but they look kinda like reset bars for circuit breakers on power lines...of course I can’t imagine those would be lead. Where is Lloyd, he’d know if I’m wrong.

Perhaps barstock feed for extrusion operations, like lead wire for bullet cores? What diameter are those rods?

If I was nearby, I would buy a lb or two and see how it melts... might be a mega score.

Looks like extruded lead rod to me. Are they are giving it away? How much per lb?
If it's heavy like lead, cuts like lead, scratches like lead...MAKE BULLETS WITH IT

Did they offer a price per pound?

.90 per pound. If it is pure and does not to be cleaned up, other than pressure washing, it would be worth it.

Get a sample piece and take it to another scrape yard that can test it. Might cost a few bucks.

I plan to get a sample. Weight and acid test, then try to melt some. I do not know of a yard with an Xrf tester, but will look for one.

It’s a bust. Acid test shows zinc. Weight density shows zinc, not lead. Click image for larger version.

dont look like anything we had or used on the lines and substations i built. If your thinking bus bars old ones were usually solid copper new ones are aluminum pipe for the most part. My guess would be the same as rkings. there some kind of bar used in extruding wire or maybe solder or bullet cores.

The shape of those hooks is typical of what they use for anodes in electroplating.
