    Expanding cast for the.300 blk

I know this has to have been hashed out already, but I am curious about softer alloy, heavy bullets, ran subsonic. With powder coating, I would think we could get away with that, although it would probably still need some degree of hollow point.

Does the hollow point have to be cast in,, or will the bullet be just as effective if the bullet is "hollow pointed" after loading with the Forester tool?

The Foster tool is basically a 1/8" hole.
Comparing that to the NOE bullet would be different.

Not sure a drilled bullet is same preformance as a cast Hp.

I cannot answer but the drilled would be Appreciably smaller

I run my 10" BO with 170gr PB RD style. 850 to 1450. not 20:1 but BHN 10.4 so results should be about the same.
No real recoil and great for hogs and 2 legged. About 3" drop @ 50 from 150gr GD @ 2k fps. Easy to compensate for shorter. Those in the vid sure seem to be seated long, mine are 0.2 below mag length.
    Whatever!

Would we make everyone happy,, if the mold were changed to hold a 1/8" diameter steel pin?
Then the ammo would be similar to 5.56 "green tip" ammo,, you would get ALL the penetration that you would want,,

I know if that mold were available, I would probably cut lengths of tungsten carbide rod to put in the bullet, rather than steel.

    (NOTE: just wishful dreaming,,, )

We can get all the penetration we could want by casting bullet harder...

A HP is gonna INHIBIT penetration.

Are you wanting a HP or a Bullet that penetrates like a FMJ?
