Think he wants to fire a .308 in a .30-06. Don't really know anything about them, but I would guess (and it's really a guess) that they would have to be made out of steel and I wouldn't want that banging around my chamber too much.
Years ago a bunch of us WWII re enactors tried them in M-1 Garands, no good. IIRC 1 guy had an M-1 with a shot out throat that kinda worked. 7.62 NATO Blanks were cheaper than 1909 blanks.

The US Navy marksmanship unit did this for Garands in the 1960's. Outpost 75 might be a good source for more information.
I have a couple of the adapters that I've never used. They're steel, and were intended to be put into the chamber with some lock-tight I believe(?).
I keep them around because... well, who knows what the future holds?

Collecting .32 molds. Please let me know if you have one you don't need, cause I might "need" it!
There used to be an ad. in the back of The Rifleman selling them.
It ran for years and years.
If they were bad, I'd think the ad. would have gone away from lack of sales.

The Navy tried the 308 to 30-06 adapters in M1 Garands, both locktighting them in and swaging/peening/staking them in,
and found that they frequently were ejected along with the brass.
So they rejected that idea and rebarreled their M1 Garands to 308.
In a bolt gun or single shot, not sure how well it would work.
The adapter might swell from pressure and not be able to be removed when you want it out,
or it might get extracted along with the brass and be difficult to remove from the spent brass.
Depending on your expectations they may or may not be satisfactory. I have shot both DCM and Marksmanship Team rifles in M1 Garand's with the insert. The extra bullet jump is not great from the accuracy stand point but its not awful either. The rifles came with the insert installed. Never removed one but one did come out. That barrel was replaced with a 308 chamber.
