    Ruger 10-22 question

I'm probably one of the few persons that do not own a Ruger 10-22. I just never got around to getting one.

A friend has one of the take down models & asked me about the bolt remaining open after the last shot. He says that his does not.

I've always regarded this feature a function of the follower (normally). Considering the rotary magazine of the 10-22 I thought such a feature might not be part of this particular rifle.

Could some of the 10-22 owners let me know about this?

    Thanks,
    Henry

The bolt on a 10-22 does not stay open after the last shot. I think there there is an aftermarket part or kit that will make it stay open. There is a way to lock the bolt open on the rifle,

In the manual, it states that the 10-22 does NOT hold the bolt open after the last shot and in my experience, this is correct.
I have only heard of one modification to do that and it requires permanent modification to the magazine so they cannot be used in other guns.
There is a lever in front of the trigger guard thet will hold the bolt open for inspection and cleaning ut does not do it after the last shot.

Tazman nailed it. There is no auto hold open on Ruger 10/22.

There is a modification to that small part that you push to lock it open.

Allows you to close the bolt by just racking it back and releasing it. Not having to find that little piece and pushing it with bolt open.
I truly believe we need to get back to basics.

    Get right with the Lord.
    Get back to the land.
Get back to thinking like our forefathers thought.

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you
and give you His peace. Let all of the earth – all of His creation – worship and praise His name! Make His
    praise glorious!

Yeah it closes and it feels strange at first.

I got a takedown some years ago and I'm getting used to it now. Just handled mine today.

You're not the only one who doesn't own a 10/22. I did have one, but nothing I could do short of replacing the barrel would make it shoot any better than 3 MOA, so I sold it. Have no interest whatsoever in acquiring another.

No, the bolt did not stay open.
