    PA early doe hunt

last satuday evening i and my brother went up to the shop to hunt deer. he was using an optima 50 cal and i was using my husqvarna m46 in 9.3x57. it was the last day for muzzleloader and disabled peoples' rifles. when my brother dropped me off, i was busy setting up stool and my tripod. when i was done with that, i loaded up two cartridges and then i looked around to find a doe looking at me. it was about 30 or yards and i thought, she's going to run and instantly she did. i laughed at myself and said good-bye. then i noticed the wind came in back of head. so i "loaded up" and went about 80 yards to another stand. i sat there for about 1 1/2 hours and it was getting near dark, so i decided i might as well unload my gun. so i did. then came the doe. she was about 50 yards from me and it was shooting legal time. we looked at each other for about 3 or 4 minutes and i thought, "i'll load up the rifle and shoot her, if she doesn't run." so i loaded up my rifle and put the cross-hair's behind the shoulder and i shot her. she dropped at the shot and she was done, no legs kicking either. just bang and drop. by the time i "loaded up" again it was dark and i hobbled towards her. i "unloaded" myself and began to fill a tag when my brother showed up. he held the flashlite while i was doing my tag and then i held the flashlite while he gutted it. then he loads it in his truck and says i still have to get mine loaded. so we did.

while we(err... should i say him) skinning the doe, i found the entry and exit wound. the entry was about 1 1/2" wide and the 275gr has struck two ribs. i can't say about the lungs, it was too dark. the exit wound was about 2", it struck two ribs too. but the entry and the exit wounds on the skin of doe were about 1/2". on the doe, there was NO bloodshot meat on the entry and exit wounds. my load for 9.3x57 is a 275gr wfn gc ( https://bullshop.weebly.com/-36-cali...t-bullets.html )with 39.0gr of imr4895. i still have to chronograph it, but i think it should be 1700-1800fps.

the 275gr wfn gc is one of the Bull Shop's specials. Dan contacted Mountain Molds to do his design.

If we did not have the 375s I am sure 9.3s would abound
